At the October 10, 2006 Board of Commissioners Meeting Mark W. Holmes, Sr. Executive Director was awarded a Three (3) Year Contract. This has never happened before at the Housing Authority of the City of East Orange. I have worked with many Executive Directors/Interim Executive Directors in my nine years of employment with this agency. There has not been one Executive Director that has remained at the authority for more than two years, until Mr. Holmes was hired. Just like the housing authority is required to submit its Annual and Five Year Plan to HUD, Mr. Holmes has a Plan of his own. He has committed himself to improve the quality of life for our residents, continue |

making
improvements to the adminis-trative offices to make it a better working
environment for staff and increase the housing authority’s portfolio by way
of purchasing property. The one thing
that this housing authority was lacking when it came to ED’s was
stability. I will have to make note of
this in my housing authority journal, because this definitely breaks the
track record. When I write my
bestseller about the trials and tribulations of the EOHA, this will
definitely be worth mentioning… Congratulations Mr. Holmes you
broke the record… Deborah Woodson,

Executive Director’s Message I was appointed as
Executive Director of The Housing Authority of the City of East Orange (EOHA)
on November 3, 2003 by the Board of Commissioners. I have always been
humble and thankful for the opportunity to serve the residents of East Orange
in this capacity. During my tenure the
Commissioners, Staff and I have implemented several new initiatives and
policies to improve operations and procedures. |
